Vibe Coding & the Builder's Brain: Unlocking Digital Creation

How AI unlocked a lifelong builder's brain, enabling a 3-hour video game build with his kids and inspiring a mission to democratize technical power.

I’ve always been an early adopter of technology — it’s what keeps me engaged and excited about the work I do every day. My dad is in construction, and I grew up building things with my hands.

As I got into computers I yearned to build video games, and in high school got the opportunity to take a programming class at the local college. I quickly found my brain was not ideal for classical syntax and barely squeaked by a passing grade. Years of squeaking by ensued as I grabbed code snippets, reworked existing projects, and continually struggled any time I needed to touch code for my job.

When iOS development started picking up steam I decided to give it another go. Determined to build an app, I went through an Objective-C boot camp. More struggling ensued. I built a prank app, but I’m not sure it would have seen the light of day had I not been working alongside someone whose brain naturally clicked with low-level syntax.

The Unlock

Fast forward to the first time I experienced vibe coding with modern AI. There it was after all those years — my builder brain was finally unblocked in the digital world.

Last summer I built something I could only have dreamed of as a kid: a summer camp curriculum where my two kids and I built an interactive video game. It took about three hours. They learned about the foundations of design, logic, game flow, and UX, and we built a complete game directly from their custom hand-drawn art.

The Mission

There are so many people just waiting to be unlocked out there. But I see technology hesitation and intimidation with AI everywhere.

My mission is to help introduce people to the new power at their fingertips — because I truly believe the more diverse users of AI we have, the more amazing results we’ll see as a society.

An AI-First World for Kids

We are moving into an AI-first world, but we must be incredibly careful not to atrophy the human brain. It needs to facilitate and maximize learning — optimizing the process so that kids can use every second for creative problem-solving and critical thinking.

We must never forget real social-emotional connections. Build more resilient children by using AI as a tool to maximize their own production quality — framing them as conductors of intelligence rather than passive consumers.
