Generating plain-English calendar windows without sending impersonal booking links

TypeScriptAstroTailwind CSS

Outcome

Killed the calendar link standoff with a client-side tool that writes clean availability snippets with zero third-party account access.

  • Zero OAuth calendar permissions required
  • One-click copy to Slack or email
  • Instant time zone conversion

We’ve all been on both sides of the modern calendar standoff.

You send an email to a senior partner, a candidate, or an external executive, and you drop a Calendly link. It’s efficient for you, but it sends a subtle signal: my time is valuable, so you go do the administrative work of finding an open slot on my grid.

The alternative isn’t much better: opening your calendar in one window, an email draft in another, and typing out: “Tuesday morning after 10 AM Pacific, Wednesday afternoon between 1 and 3:30 PM…” If the other person is in New York or London, you have to do mental time zone math on the fly. One missed calculation, and someone shows up to an empty Zoom room an hour late.

I got tired of doing that math by hand, so I built a small browser tool that turns the process into a two-click gesture.

Try out the live generator below to pick open windows and see the generated copy update instantly.

Why the Architecture Matters

Most scheduling apps want full read-and-write OAuth access to your entire corporate Google or Microsoft 365 calendar. For an IT infrastructure lead, granting a third-party startup access to every calendar event, attendee email, and meeting subject across an organization is an unnecessary security risk.

This utility operates under three simple constraints:

1. Zero Third-Party OAuth Permissions

The tool never asks to connect to Google Workspace, Microsoft Graph, or iCloud. It doesn’t crawl your calendar or store your appointments in a remote database. You glance at your calendar, click the windows you want to offer, and the tool handles the translation. No security assessment, no vendor risk questionnaire, no corporate compliance exposure.

2. Client-Side Time Zone Math

Time zone conversions happen entirely in your local browser runtime. If you’re on Pacific Time and offering slots to a colleague in London, toggling the destination time zone converts the hours instantly without round-tripping to a server.

3. Natural Human Copy Instead of Robot Output

Nobody talks like a computer API. The output isn’t a robotic JSON blob or an intimidating table; it’s a polite, punchy paragraph formatted the way a real human would type it into Slack, an email thread, or a LinkedIn message.

Honest Caveats

  • No Live Conflict Detection: Because the tool intentionally avoids connecting to your live calendar feed via OAuth, it cannot warn you if an incoming invite lands on one of your proposed slots while your email is in transit. For high-volume public scheduling with strangers, a formal booking system is still necessary.
  • Manual Slot Selection: You still have to spend five seconds clicking the windows you want to share. That trade-off is deliberate: keeping human judgment in the loop prevents overbooking and guarantees privacy.
